I am a mother of 4 children and wife of 14 years to my amazing and supportive husband, Chris. I have been teaching childbirth education and attending births since 2010 and have loved every minute of it. I am certified through CAPPA and enjoy advocating for women and babies through education, activism and community outreach and became an Evidence Based Birth® instructor in 2015. I have also supported many mothers during their postpartum period and helped them navigate those first few murky months of getting to know their precious babe.
I've been dubbed "Earth Mama" because of my crunchy ways. I like to eat 'close to the earth.' Though you might still find a box of Tate's Chocolate Chip cookies in my cupboard . . . I try my best to avoid GMO's and pesticides, have a kitchen garden and backyard chickens, and prefer to shop at the local organic food co-op and health food stores. I relate my birth philosophy to my lifestyle choice in that I believe our bodies were created as nature intended and under normal circumstances need very little intervention to bring forth "fruit".
I had a life-changing birth experience with my third child and decided that I needed to share my "discovery" with other parents-to-be. Along the way, I've learned that not everybody is going to have the same wishes that I had for my birth, but something we more than likely have in common is a desire for a positive birth experience. This means something different for every mother. My deepest desire is to help you come away from your birth experience with gratitude and a sense of satisfaction knowing that you were supported and respected throughout your labor, birth and postpartum period. You will never, ever forget this magnificent time in your life. and I believe it is an experience that you will want to look back on with appreciation..
